2:00 PM – Welcome from co-hosts Erika & Michael – followed by:
Musical Medley – this month’s medley highlights protest songs from the Vietnam War era, featuring Buffalo Springfield, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Animals, and songs such as I Was Only 19, Paint It Black, Let The Sunshine In.
Trivia Quiz – 50 General Knowledge questions to keep those synapses firing on all cylinders.
The World of Art – this month we have two short features. The first examines The Daughters of Edward Darley Boit by John Singer Sargent. The second one is on the intricacies of Enamel Jewellery.
3.00 PM – Short Intermission (5min) – time for refreshments from our well-stocked concession bar! Followed by:
Comedy Capers – Jeanne Robertson will keep us in stitches with A Mother’s Revenge, followed by Peter Falk’s funny Emmy Award acceptance speech for Columbo.
3.20 PM – Feature Presentation – Another great presentation from the folks at Monash University titled: Sleep on it: the science of sleep and ageing, presented by Associate Professor Melinda Jackson.
Professor Jackson is a sleep psychologist, and heads the Sleep Cognition and Mood Laboratory in the Turner Institute for Brain and Mental Health at Monash University. Her research examines the impact of sleep loss and sleep disorders on cognition, mood and brain health, and explores the impact of different treatment approaches, including cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia and mindfulness, aimed at addressing sleep issues in community and clinical populations, such as patients with obstructive sleep apnoea, insomnia and mild cognitive impairment, and carers.
