Footy Tipping Competition 2026

Welcome to Footy Tipping for season 2026!

With the success of our tipping competitions over the last two years, let’s make this 2026 season even better!

The first step is to be an Active member of U3A Bentleigh and enrol in the course Footy Tipping (Class Code M26 415), even if you were involved last year.

If you were involved last year, all you need to do to start tipping is login to footytips.com.au (using your previous password), and click on U3A Bentleigh Tipstars to re-activate your account for this season.,

Setup instructions and rules are explained below, and an information session will be held on Thu 19 Feb at 12 noon in the kitchen area. The first Round for 2026 starts on Thu 5 Mar.

How To Setup

Before you start, ensure that you are an Active member and enrolled in Footy Tipping (Class Code M26 415).

The competition is setup in footytips.com.au, so click on the link below and follow the steps to enter:

  • Click Join Competition
  • Fill in the details, and make sure to note the email address and password you used, in order to login later
  • Some fields are optional – ignore those if you wish
  • You can be listed in the Competition with an Alias if you wish
  • Make sure to list your favourite AFL team
  • You can elect to have a reminder and tip selections emailed to you.
  • Your tipping administrator is Don Robbie, with the Alias – My other home floats.

THE ENTRY COST IS A $5 DONATION TO U3A BENTLEIGH PAYABLE AT RECEPTION.

The prize, at this stage, will consist of gift vouchers. If there are more entries than expected, additional prizes may be added. Weekly updates will be provided via the Footy Tipping Results page under Latest News on this website.

So, put on your thinking caps and get ready to start tipping and good luck.

Instructions & Rules

Once you have completed Setup, login and select U3A Bentleigh Tipstars then click Tip Now! Select the teams you think will win.

  1. In the first game only, select a MARGIN which you think your selection will win by. Think about your margin selection each week, as it may come into play at the end of the season (it did, in fact, decide prizes last year). Then make your selection for the other games in the round.
  2. Important – When you have finished selecting, scroll down to the bottom and click Submit tips.
  3. Rounds may consist of a different number of games and different starting times each week, so keep an eye out when you do your weekly tips. You can set email reminders and results on the footy tipping website, if you wish. The first named team is the home team, regardless of where the game is played.
  4. Once finished, and you want to be involved in the STREAK, select the Streak button. Now select the teams for the Round that you consider are certainties. You can select any number of your certainties from 0-9.
  5. You can select or edit your tips and streak selections right up to the start of each game. You can also make selections in any future games, just in case you are away and with limited Internet access.

THE RULES

  • The entry cost is a $5 donation to U3A Bentleigh payable at Reception
  • There are no weekly prizes. The major prizes for the Tipping and Streak competitions will be via gift vouchers, with the value decided by the number of entries
  • TIPPING: Select the most number of winners for the season (excluding Finals). In the case of a tie at the end of the season between two or more people, the tipper with the lowest overall margin will be declared the winner
  • If you miss tipping in any game, your selection is the away team
  • STREAK: Prize is for picking the most number of winning certainties in a row, regardless of whether it is still live at the end of the season. If one of your selections loses, your streak is over, but you can start again. You can add, change or delete any selection right up to game time
  • MARGIN: Based on the margin you select for the first game of the round. Your margin is the amount your selection is away from the actual winning margin (ie, if you select the winning team and your selected margin is 20 points, and 10 or 30 points is the actual margin, your margin is 10. If, however, the team you selected loses by 10, your margin is 30. Lowest total margin at the end of the season is the winner. As mentioned previously, the lowest margin could decide the overall tipping winner. If you don’t tip in the first game or don’t select a margin, your default margin selection will be 0

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for any prizes you must satisfy the following criteria:

  1. Be an Active (paid-up) member of U3A Bentleigh
  2. Have enrolled in Footy Tipping (Class Code M26 415)
  3. Paid the $5 entry cost
